Institute for Advanced Wound Care

A chronic wound is a wound that has resisted healing for three weeks or more. Chronic or slow-to-heal wounds are not an uncommon occurrence. It is estimated that between 6 and 7 million Americans experience problems from chronic wounds.
Drs. Terry A. Treadwell, M.D., F.A.C.S., and Warren C. Gewant, M.D., F.A.C.S., have been treating patients with chronic wounds since 1998. They both have a profound interest in treating chronic wounds, as well as training other physicians in the area of wound care. They host monthly seminars for physicians interested in learning more about chronic wound care and advancements in treatment.
Dr. Treadwell serves as the institute's medical director. He is a graduate of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and completed his residency in general and vascular surgery at Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas. A retired vascular surgeon, Dr. Treadwell serves on the board of directors of the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care and the editorial advisory board of Wounds magazine.
Dr. Gewant received his medical degree from State University of New York and completed his residency in general and vascular surgery at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Conn. Dr. Gewant, a board-certified surgeon, is a retired vascular surgeon and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Before moving to Montgomery, he had a private practice in Saratoga, N.Y., for 18 years.
